The top decentralized exchanges are handling billions of dollars in transaction volume, with customers opting to trade cryptocurrencies using non-custodial wallets instead of depositing their funds with a central exchange platform. 

CoinGecko data cited above showed decentralized exchanges handling about $3.9 billion in 24-hour volume, with PancakeSwap V3 and Uniswap V4 among the highest-volume platforms.

Top decentralized exchanges record activity across major networks

DEX activity is distributed across several blockchain networks, and rankings can change as trading volume moves between protocols. According to the data from CoinGecko, PancakeSwap V3 ranks among the most prominent decentralized exchanges on the BNB Smart Chain in terms of 24-hour volume, followed by Uniswap V4 and Uniswap V3 on the Ethereum blockchain.

In addition, Aerodrome also saw significant use on the Base network. According to the above-mentioned data from DeFiLlama, the Aerodrome volume in 24 hours comes to around $432.6 million and $12.2 billion in 30 days. Yet, it does not necessarily mean that one platform is safer and more suitable than the other.
