Crypto home invasion charges against two Texas brothers moved closer to resolution after both men pleaded guilty in federal court to their roles in an armed robbery that resulted in the theft of more than $8 million in cryptocurrency from a Minnesota family.

The case, which involved hours of confinement, threats with firearms, and forced transfers of digital assets, concluded with guilty pleas from Isiah Angelo Garcia, 25, and Raymond Christian Garcia, 24.

Federal prosecutors said the brothers travelled from Texas to Minnesota, targeted a family at their residence, and compelled them to surrender access to cryptocurrency holdings before fleeing the state.

Guilty Pleas Entered in Federal Court

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, the brothers pleaded guilty to one count of interference with commerce by robbery before U.S. District Judge Ann Montgomery in Minneapolis.

Court records show the incident took place on Sept. 19, 2025, in Grant, Minnesota. Prosecutors stated that the defendants entered the victims’ home, displayed firearms, and restrained members of the family with zip ties.

During the robbery, they demanded access to cryptocurrency accounts and digital asset storage devices. Federal authorities said both defendants admitted to using firearms to threaten the victims throughout the incident.

The plea agreements also include restitution exceeding $8 million, reflecting the value of the cryptocurrency that was transferred during the robbery.

The brothers each face a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison. Sentencing dates have not yet been announced.

How the $8 Million Cryptocurrency Theft Unfolded

Investigators said the robbery extended beyond the family residence. According to court documents, Isiah Garcia forced one of the victims to accompany him to the family’s cabin in northern Minnesota.

Authorities stated that the victim was compelled to retrieve additional cryptocurrency storage devices located at the cabin. Prosecutors said the victim was then forced to authorize and complete additional cryptocurrency transfers.

Over the course of the incident, more than $8 million in digital assets was transferred from the victim’s control.

FBI and Prosecutors Address the Case

Following the court proceedings, law enforcement officials commented on the outcome.

FBI Minneapolis Field Office Special Agent in Charge Christopher Dotson stated that residents should not have to fear for their safety inside their homes.

Daniel Rosen, United States Attorney, also spoke regarding the plea of guilty, emphasizing that the process in the court was an indication of responsibility regarding what happened.

Case Emerges Amid Other Cryptocurrency-Related Violent Crimes

The Minnesota prosecution comes as federal and international authorities continue pursuing several cryptocurrency-related robbery and kidnapping investigations.

Earlier this month, a Florida man pleaded guilty in a separate case involving a bitcoin-related kidnapping and carjacking scheme.

In another matter, three Tennessee men were indicted in California over allegations that an armed robbery operation generated approximately $6.5 million through forced cryptocurrency thefts.

Authorities in France have also pursued multiple investigations involving kidnappings connected to cryptocurrency holdings. Prosecutors there charged 88 individuals, including minors, across a series of cases involving alleged abductions. One of the victims was David Balland, co-founder of Ledger, who was abducted before being rescued by police.
