Fireblocks Circle Gateway Gives Institutions Faster Cross Chain USDC Access

Key Insights

  • The institutions can hold and operate cross-chain USDC liquidity without holding separate blockchain balances.
  • Now, recipients in local fiat currency are reached in minutes in over 50 countries from cross-border settlements.
  • All pre-existing Fireblocks compliance controls are in effect throughout Gateway transfers and Circle Payments Network transactions.

The new Fireblocks Circle Gateway bridges the gap between Circle Gateway and the Circle Payments Network, allowing for direct integration into the Fireblocks platform to enable institutions to access USDC with ease.ย  The integration supports Circleโ€™s mission to make USDC the go-to stablecoin for institutional users by adding enterprise-grade infrastructure.

The announcement is another milestone in the companies’ growing collaboration as financial institutions adopt stablecoins to facilitate tokenized asset transactions, cross-border settlements and treasury management. The integration is also aimed at furthering Circle’s goal of making USDC an institutional favorite stablecoin via enterprise-grade infrastructure.

Payments are replaced by partnership by unified liquidity

Fireblocks and Circle expanded their partnership further in 2025 by integrating the Circle Payments Network (CPN) into Fireblocks’ custody and payments solutions. That partnership has helped lay the groundwork for the latest roll-out.

With Fireblocks Circle Gateway, customers can now have one virtual USDC balance on the supported blockchain networks. Institutions won’t have to maintain their own liquidity pools on each chain, but can transfer funds in real time as needed.

Fireblocks said transfers complete in less than 500 milliseconds. Incoming USDC also returns automatically to the unified balance after transactions finish. As a result, firms no longer need to hold multiple gas tokens for supported destination chains.

The companies designed the service for trading firms, payment providers, fintech companies and neobanks that regularly move stablecoins across different blockchain networks.

At the same time, Circle Payments Network now operates within Fireblocks’ existing compliance framework. Institutions can send USDC through the platform while recipients receive local fiat currency through supported providers across more than 50 countries. Fireblocks applies transaction approvals, sanctions screening, Travel Rule requirements and counterparty controls using the same governance already deployed for digital asset transactions.

Key operational metrics

Metric Details
Unified balance One virtual USDC balance across supported blockchains
Transfer speed Less than 500 milliseconds
Fiat payout reach More than 50 countries
Supported infrastructure More than 120 blockchain networks
Digital assets secured Over $10 trillion in transaction value
Stablecoin share on Fireblocks 69% of platform transaction volume in Q2 2026

Institutional adoption gains fresh momentum

The integration arrives as institutional stablecoin usage continues to accelerate. Fireblocks reported that stablecoins represented 69% of digital asset transaction volume on its platform during the second quarter of 2026. The company also said USDC became its leading stablecoin earlier this year.

Meanwhile, Fireblocks estimated that global stablecoin transaction volume reached $33 trillion during 2025, reflecting a 72% annual increase.

Circle also expanded its broader payments ecosystem in recent months. The company unveiled Managed Payments to enable banks and fintech companies to settle transactions with USDC without being directly responsible for blockchain infrastructure. Later, Circle extended the payout options to include Nium, with support for payments to be made in more than 190 countries and more than 100 currencies.

Another significant development is Circle Arc. Circle created a new enterprise-focused Layer 1 blockchain, which Fireblocks became a Day One launch partner for.

The general market implications continue to be important

The new integration may have the potential to reinvent institutional stablecoins by making USDC more accessible for deployment on various blockchains. No more money is required to be held in different accounts on the blockchain for firms to launch transactions. Rather, they can only use that liquidity when it’s needed while enhancing capital efficiency.

The announcement was also well received in the market. Share prices for Circle, ticker: CRCL, surged 17% as investors welcomed the announcement, buoyed by their confidence in the prospect of institutional adoption of stablecoins.

But the strategy does also bring concentration of operations. The value of the institutions that depend heavily on a common infrastructure could be significantly impacted if either company has a technical problem, regulatory update or compliance issue.

The Circle partnership will add USDC to one of the top institutional digital asset platforms in the industry. For Fireblocks, it strengthens its position as infrastructure connecting custody, payments and compliance under one operating environment.

Fireblocks Circle Gateway therefore represents more than another platform integration. It combines unified liquidity management, faster cross-chain settlement and institutional compliance into a single workflow. As stablecoin adoption expands among banks, asset managers and payment providers, Fireblocks Circle Gateway could become a central component of institutional digital asset operations while reinforcing Fireblocks Circle Gateway as a key part of the growing stablecoin ecosystem.
