Bitcoin Price Holds Firm as Ionic Digital’s Nasdaq Launch Turns Heads

  • Bitcoin Price made an upside breakout from vital support levels but remained beneath the significant moving averages.
  • Ionic Digital became active on Nasdaq as its current shareholders began trading their holdings publicly.
  • Open interest levels stayed high despite the recovery in Bitcoin and still had leveraged positions open.

Bitcoin Price was trading near the $64,000 mark on Tuesday, having recovered from a fall seen during the session, despite high positions in derivatives and Ionic Digital starting its trading on Nasdaq through its direct listing process. Technical analysis indicated that Bitcoin was recovering from a fall below the $63,000 mark, but caution was still recommended.

Bitcoin Price Gains Ground amid Technical Levels

Bitcoin was trading at $63,938, up 0.7% from 24 hours ago. The digital currency experienced some weakness and touched levels below $63,000 before bouncing back, causing the market capitalization to rise to $1.28 trillion.

On the four-hour chart, Bitcoin traded near $63,980, posting an additional 0.51% session gain after rebounding from support around $63,100. Buyers responded near that level, preventing further downside during the trading session.

Nonetheless, there was an indication of a technical mixed condition with Bitcoin trading below the 20 EMA at $64,140, 50 EMA at $64,441, 100 EMA at $64,302, and 200 EMA at $64,247. Being below these moving averages indicated that price action had not returned to technical levels.

On the other hand, the RSI is still trading at 46, below the 50 neutral level.

Key Technical Observations

  • Bitcoin price rallied after a temporary fall below the $63,000 mark.
  • RSI was below 50
  • Price continued trading below all four major exponential moving averages.

Bitcoin Price Holds Above Fibonacci Support

A separate Fibonacci analysis placed Bitcoin near $63,971, reflecting another 0.50% gain during the session. The recovery followed a rebound from the 0.786 Fibonacci retracement level around $63,121, where buying activity slowed the previous decline.

Bitcoin subsequently traded above the 0.618 Fibonacci level near $63,668, making that level immediate support during the session.

The next resistance levels were identified at:

  • 0.382 Fibonacci: $64,436
  • 0.236 Fibonacci: $64,949
  • Resistance zone: $65,680

Holding above $63,668 would maintain the current recovery structure, while a move below that level could expose another test of the $63,121 support.

Ionic Digital Begins Nasdaq Trading Following Direct Listing

Ionic Digital started trading on the Nasdaq under the ticker IOND through a direct listing. The company opened at its $50 reference price, climbed to an intraday high of $62.90, and finished the session near that level, representing an increase of approximately 25.8% from the opening reference price.

However, direct listing was not related to any issuance of new shares or raising funds since it allowed existing holders of stock, including those that received their equity as a result of the bankruptcy restructuring of Celsius Network, to trade in the public markets.

Ionic Digital had a $400 million fundraising that took place at a valuation of about $2 billion. With the help of the number of outstanding shares, the market capitalization of the company was estimated to be close to $2.75 billion.

Ionic Digital was founded in January 2024 following the filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy by Celsius Network. Through the restructuring process, the mining hardware, energy contracts, real estate properties, cash reserves, and 540 BTC were moved to the new company.

The company currently operates Bitcoin mining facilities producing approximately 12.2 exahashes per second (EH/s) while also developing a 234-megawatt high-performance computing facility in Texas intended for AI cloud computing customers. The project has an estimated revenue forecast of $195 million for 2026.

Open Interest Stays High Amid Falling Bitcoin Prices

Bitcoin derivative trading revealed that open interest rose in line with the rise in prices of Bitcoin to above $90 billion before falling.

Despite Bitcoin dropping below these previous peaks subsequently, open interest remained relatively high compared to previous levels. This information shows that leveraged positions were still open even as the prices fell.
