PI Price Holds Near $0.089 as Protocol v26 Upgrade Reaches Testnet 2

PI Price Holds Near $0.089 as Protocol v26 Upgrade Reaches Testnet 2

  • Price of PI is near $0.089 and $0.0912 resistance is the only obstacle for buyers.
  • Pi Network successfully launches Testnet 2 of Protocol v26 and Protocol v27 is the last upgrade expected.
  • Price of PI is above moving averages but low volume indicates lack of buyers currently.

PI price remained near $0.089 on August 13 as Pi Network advanced another stage of its technical upgrade roadmap with the launch of Testnet 2 on Protocol v26. PI was trading at $0.08898, representing a 0.66% increase over 24 hours, while the chart showed a late-session recovery after earlier weakness.

The move left the token above several short-term moving averages, although declining trading volume indicated limited buying activity. At the same time, Pi Network’s Protocol v26 rollout left only Protocol v27 in the planned upgrade sequence, putting the network’s technical development at another milestone.

PI Price Faces Resistance Near $0.0912

On the 4-hour chart, PI price is positioned in a neutral-to-mildly bullish structure. The token was trading above the 20 EMA at $0.08841 and the 50 EMA at $0.08805. These levels currently provide short-term reference points for the price structure.

The 100 EMA level is currently at $0.08759, whereas the 200 EMA is above at $0.09122.

A move above $0.0912 would place the token above the 200 EMA and could expose higher technical levels at $0.0950 and $0.1000. On the downside, rejection around $0.0912 could bring PI back toward $0.0880 and then $0.0876.

The Relative Strength Index, or RSI, was around 53.

Key technical levels

  • Resistance: $0.09019 and $0.09118–$0.09122.
  • Upside levels: $0.09488, $0.09787 and $0.10086.
  • Support: $0.08795, $0.08570 and the broader $0.08466 level.

PI Price Remains Above Bollinger Band Support

The Bollinger Band structure also places PI price near a key technical area. PI was trading around $0.0890, above the middle Bollinger Band at $0.08795 and the lower band at $0.08570.

The position above the middle band leaves $0.08795 as an immediate reference level. A break below that level will see a test on the lower band at $0.08570. It should be noted, however, that the recent candles depicted low momentum as the token remained consolidated around its current levels.

Resistance was identified at $0.09019, followed by the 0.236 Fibonacci level near $0.09118.

A decisive move above $0.09118 would put $0.09488, $0.09787 and $0.10086 into focus based on the stated technical levels.

The broader chart also shows PI consolidating between support at $0.08466 and resistance at $0.09633. A break above $0.09633 would mark a move beyond the established range, while a break below $0.08466 would weaken the current structure.

Pi Network Completes Protocol v26 Testnet Upgrade

Pi Network’s technical development advanced on August 13 when Testnet 2 went live on Protocol v26. The node was upgraded to the latest version as part of the rollout.

The development represents the second-to-last upgrade in the current Pi Network technical roadmap. The network has completed eight successive upgrades from Protocol v19 through Protocol v26.

Only Protocol v27 remains in the planned sequence. The Pi Core Team has described Protocol v27 as the final planned upgrade in this series.

Analyst amrOnChain confirmed the Protocol v26 milestone on X and described the project as being in the final stretch of the upgrade journey.

Analysts Track Protocol v27

Analyst Daniel F said that features available on the Stellar network through Protocol v26 are now also present in Pi Network. The statement comes as the community awaits the release date for Protocol v27.

Analyst Rizo also linked the completion of v27 with the network’s technical capacity, stating that the upgrade could mark the point at which Pi Network’s engine is ready to operate at full capacity.

For the market, the technical roadmap is developing alongside a PI price structure that remains close to $0.089. The next major technical levels remain $0.09118 on the upside and $0.08795 on the downside.
